We know that we still have a long way to go before we have a company that reflects the societies in which we operate as well as we would like. These three things are central to our work on diversity:
Recruitment – This is the most obvious type of diversity initiative; it attempts to ensure that the companies in which we operate are reflective of our societies. We are not in favour of setting targets for recruitment, retention or promotion and do not positively discriminate, but we do encourage the widest range of well-qualified people to apply.
Internal processes - Fair treatment in the workplace is also at the forefront of our agenda. Bullying, harassment and/or discrimination on grounds of race, sexual orientation, age, religion, or any other matter is completely unacceptable.
Customer base – Our companies are educational, informative and creative. By widening the scope of our employees, we in turn widen the base of customers that we reach.
